Youtube Downloader Makes More than my Arcade

If you want to make money the easy way subscribe to my RSS feed, and learn how to make money from your feedreader.

I decided to write this post as a followup of my last. In my last I just touched lightly on the subject of how you should diversify your portfolio, I decided on this line of thinking in the beginning of my project, if you remember this crazy post I had claimed that I was going to try to make 5k in one month. Well Im not that close yet, but what you really should have gotten from that post was that I was going to try to increase my projects and not just focus closely on proxies.

I have not completed one of the goals yet, but I am already 1/5th of the way to my goal of 5k.

I wanted to talk about one of my sites which has turned into a nice little earner for me. It is my Youtube Video Downloader site. This site is self explanatory, you want to download a video from youtube, you can download it from this site. Simple as that. This service is useful because people can’t alway’s wait for the damn youtube videos to buffer. It can be quite annoying for those of us that are not on 1mb connections.

First the traffic:

Graph Of Traffic

And Some more:

Some More Traffic

As you can see the traffic isn’t what I would consider very high, I mean if it isn’t pulling in at least 1k uniquest a day I don’t even pay attention to the site most of the time.

But yesterday this little site made me $1.70. The total cost of this site was a whopping $0.88, and since it is being hosted on my current hosting its not taking anything extra. The script was free and the domain cost me $0.88, I got the logo made for free in exchange for the link you see for Global Warming. This YouTube Downloader is a nice little earner as you can see from these stats:

Adsense Stats

Before you start screaming that the images have been edited, I’ll tell you straight I wanted the images to show up in the blog properly so I cropped the info you don’t need. As you can see only the page impressions and the amount made per day. The site has already paid for itself 8 times over! And I have the domain for another year.

These are the type of sites that spread via word of mouth as well, so I’m loving it!

I just figured out how to use this upload thing with wordpress, no wonder the last time I tried it without it things went horribly wrong here .

I will also be offering making you a site similar to mine for the price of $30, which means that you should have your money back within 3 months, or faster if you promote it more. I have left it on cruise control but with a little bit of effort this site could be a real earner for anyone. If you are interested please drop a comment with your email address and I will get in touch with you. Price includes domain and script, you will have to get your own logo and customize the site yourself.

Small Projects Add Up.

Sometimes I see people selling sites for up-to 9k.  Thats alot of money.  But for people that are making $1,000 a month or more they can justify asking that much money.  This always leads me to wonder why the hell don’t I do that?  Why don’t I focus my energy on one project and than cash out when the time is right?

For one thing, these kind of projects require alot of time and dedication.  And as you know I am lazy!  Lets take the example of a directory, sure you can make a lot of directories and let people propagate them for free, but who the hell wants that?  You want a directory that is at least PR5 so that people would be willing to pay $4 a pop for a link.  Now to build your directories rank that high, you need to submit your directory to other directories, release themes that are free that link back to your directory, buy ads on google, and also on webmaster forums.  If you are a member of digital point you must have seen all the directories that advertise in the top-right hand corner.  A project like this will cost you at least 1k to get up and running.  How do I know this?  Simple, I read it here, as you can see the OP had to spend over 1k getting it ready, and than still have an advertising budget of $250+ a month for signature links and avatar buy outs!

On the other hand, he sold it for a cool $9.5K.  Not a bad turnover, but when you consider the amount of work/time/money I think its not worth it.

On the other hand this month my network of sites have made over  $1,277 as of today.  If I wanted to I could sell all these sites for a nice $12k easily.  Considering that site sales usually go for about 12 X monthly revenue.

And what was my cost to achieve this goal?

  1. $35   for Domains
  2. $100 for Advertising
  3. $209 for the Server

Total Cost: $344

I will not be spending another $100 next month.  But will probably spend that money on more domains.

What is my point with all this?

IF you don’t have a nice budget to start with, diversify your portfolio with smaller projects that are still good earners.  Next month I will be looking into a directory.  But that is only because I am now making a comfortable amount of money from my sites and they are on autosurf.

Time to Sell My Arcade

March 23rd, 2007 2 Comments   Posted in Internet, Making Money Online, Personal

I have decided its time to sell my arcade site.  The reason being is that I believe it would be better in someone elses hands, there are alot of people that are good at running arcades, and it seems that I am not one of them.

This post is where I list the site for sale.  Hopefully I will start a bidding war and get 10k for the site.  If that doesn’t work out I’ll be happy with $500.

I wasn’t investing any time in the site, and didn’t want to ad more codes to get adversal working.  Im sure I could have made a nice $2-3 per day with Adversal but I just don’t have the time.

It would also be a good idea for the new owner to add some azoogle pop-ups.  They have a great payout offer for $34.99 for a game rental subscription, and I’m sure people coming to an online arcade would be interested in that.

Lets hope it sells so that I can pay my server bill from the proceeds!

I still love my YouTube Downloader though bringing in some nice clicks everyday.

Why I Love .Info’s

March 22nd, 2007 6 Comments   Posted in Personal

Yesterday someone over at DP posted about how they would like it if Adsense had a feature where they could just block all .info’s in the competive ad filter instead of having to put the name of the site in one by one.

The reason he wanted to block all .info’s was because he believed that all .info’s are made for adsense or arbritage sites. I quickly chimed in with my petition that over 95% of my sites are .info’s! The OP quickly apologized and assured me that he wasn’t suggesting all .info’s are MFA but just the ones that are focused on his niche. It probably was true, but I just like to create a fuss.

This brings me to my point I love .info’s! I can almost always get the domain name I wanted, and they are cheap as hell. I can register 10 at a time without denting my walled. The damn things only cost me $0.88 each, when considering that a .com costs you about $4.95 at the cheapest you could possibly find it; I think the .info’s are a great bargain.

When I first started with .info’s someone told me that it would be very ahrd to rank with them because they are considered spammy by the search engines.

Well just for the people that like to hate, here is some information to consider before you try to scare people:

  • #1 Site ranks in the 2nd page for the term ‘Myspace Proxy’
  • #2 Site rank in the 2nd page for a term that can’t be disclosed here
  • #3 Site ranks in position number 5! For another secret TERM!

Not bad considering 2 of the sites are only that way due to onsite optimization and nothing to do with builind backlinks.

Why You Shouldn’t Open An Arcade Site

March 21st, 2007 5 Comments   Posted in Uncategorized

As you all know I am in the process of trying to make 5k a month. The main source of this income was going to come from my proxies and some secondary sites. Mainly the idea was to get some directories going.

I have decided to stay away from directories for the time being because they require alot of work and money, and while I may be stupid with money I am the laziest person you have ever not met. I don’t like to work. I’d outsource brushing my teeth if it was possible.

I thought that an arcade site would be a nice addition to my proxies and I could advertise it from the proxies with some ease. As I stated the arcade I bought was Arcade-Shit. I got this for cheap on DP it was a auction and the high bidder backed out, and thus the auction was extended for 2 hours and I wont it for $35. I paid an extra $15 to the seller to upload it for me because I have absolutely no idea how scripts work.

Here is a screenshot of what I think is a reasonable amount of traffic:

Now that’s what I would consider a reasonable amount of traffic.

Here is the adsense screenshot:

As you can see I am not very happy with the end results so far. My Apologies for not being able to resize the image properly and stuff, I just got MsPaint this evening thanks to a member of DP that was kind enough to zip it up and send it my way.

I am still happy with my investment in the arcade. I did at the end of the day get a bargain:

  • $125 for the Scripts on the Site.
  • $10 for .com domain. (I run all my proxies off of .info’s)
  • $15 for the unique design, but c’mon a TURD?

If I had done all these things separatly I would have spent at least $150, I got it all for $50. A saving of $100 dollars. The site is being hosted with my proxies so Im not worried about bandwidth costs because hell the server is dedicated and Im paying for it anyway.

The site should hopefully pick-up soon (fingers crossed). If not im sure it will cover the cost of $50 by the end of the year either way.
