Making Money Experiment Part 1
If you want to make money the easy way subscribe to my RSS feed, and learn how to make money from your feedreader.
Yesterday I promised you I was going to start a case study about how you can make money online without making a content site based around adsense or another site used to make money with text link ads. I have been moving slowly and steadily into the realm of other ways to make money online. I am tired of reading stories about how people are getting banned from adsense, and now have to wonder what they want to do with their sites.
This has happened to people, and it could happen to you. It has happened to people making over 20k a month in adsense so it could happen to you. If you want to just increase the way you make money online or just want to have a backup plan its time to start paying attention to this blog.
Our first part of this series will be how to make money with a directory. I have already shown my readers how they can make money with a youtube downloader site, and with proxy sites. But I think now it is time to move onto something bigger and better.
The first thing I did was decide on what domain I wanted.
I could have used any of my own sites that had a PR4+ instead of starting fresh with a new one, but this would have been a irresponsible thing to do. Considering that only the main page would have Page Rank, and none of the inner pages would have any PR.
I decided it would be best to buy a new domain and start fresh rather than to try to piggyback on some other sites PR.
The next step was to decide what kind of directory I wanted.
There are two types of directories that are hugely popular at the moment, one is a bidding directory and the other is a regular type of directory. For some reason, and I don’t why I decided to take the step in the direction of opening a bidding directory.
A bidding directory works in a way that people actually bid to try to keep their site on the front page. Some of the more successful bidding directories have bids upwards 1.2k for the first position. If you consider the fact that there are up to 10 sites on the front page you understand that the bidding directory has already pulled in over 10K! (Maybe thats why I decided to go with the bidding directory)
Now that we have decided which type of directory you want to open and that we are going to be needing a new domain name it was time to actually decide which domain name we wanted. I came up with the name iBidDir.com, it’s very simple, easy to remember and it gets the message of what the site is across. iBidDir it let’s you know straight out that it is a bidding directory, the best thing about this is that because its so simple it is very easy to communicate with people, they will remember it, and it will be easy to bring up in conversation.
What was the total cost of all this?
- $9.00 Domain
- $6.00 Script Installation
With a grand total of a $15.00 I was able to setup a brand new directory. Now that was probably the cheapest part of this process, they’re will be a lot more money spent on promoting the directory and making sure that it gets PR. But that will be for another post.

Proof that GooGle Is the AntiChrist. Is GooGle Evil?
I woke up this morning to find some very interesting GooGle Stats:

Coincidence? I think Not!
Keep in tune, as for tomorrow we will be starting a case study on how to make money online! It doesn’t have to do with proxies or text-link-ads, but will be about making money with another avenue. It will probably be an on-going study so tune in.

Microsoft to Sell The Ad Space On Digg. No More Adsense On Digg
It seems that digg has come to a deal to serve Microsoft ads on its site instead of Google adsense, at this point in time the site is still displaying Google ads, but I think they will stop serving them after the official announcement which is later today.
This could come as a big blow to Google who was earning a huge revenue from the amount of money they were making online with the ads served on Digg.
But with the deal, Microsoft has picked up another piece of Internet property that will match what they have going on other sites.
This idea is pretty evil, Microsoft has just cracked a huge egg, and got its ads in front of millions of net geeks that surf digg everyday looking for witty anecdotes that they can share around the water cooler at work.
I guess when you have such a great policy regarding ethics like google’s “Don’t be Evil” tagline you are kinda forced into watching the competition do all the things you wanted to do in life.
This should put to an end the rumors that the site is going to be sold, with a deal like this they are probably making enough now that they can relax and work on making this site better, and working on other projects that they wish too without having to worry about the revenue coming from Digg.
Kevin Rose is one smart young kid and knows how to make money online, he is a venture capitalist’s wet dream and they are literaly fighting to try to invest money in this kid.
If he sneezed and decided to market tissue paper with snot already included Im sure he could get some quick funding from a few of these firms with bubbles.
But I believe what this is leading to is just another web 2.0 bubble, I see it all happening again. The big companies buying all the little ones for ridiculous amounts of money.
What really sucks is the big boys at Google got owned by this guy:

Now your telling me this Guy AINT GAY??
Google Decides YouTube Downloads Are Against Adsense Policies
Google has decided that My Youtube Download Site is no longer valid for the adsense program. If you don’t know what a youtube downloader is, its a very simple site that lets you download videos from youtube instead of watching the videos stream from the site. The benefit of this is that you have the video on your computer to watch anytime you want without having to go to youtube and look for the video. The site was a nice little earner, as you can see here it was earning more money with adsense than my online arcade site.
The clicks on this site believe it or not were very high paying ones, and $1+ clicks were nothing out of the ordinary with this site.
As you may know I have had my Google adsense account banned once, but was one of the lucky few people to get it reinstated. I don’t know what I did, but now the Google people are cool with me, and if there is every anything wrong with my account they let me know in advance.
Take the fact that I was click bombed on one of my proxies by a malicious person a few weeks ago, I actually got a call from within the Googleplex to let me know what was going on, and what I could do to make things better. In the end, I just disabled the proxy for a few hours and put it back up later on. Problem Solved.
Luckily Google contacted me and told me that the ads from the site were going to be disables.
Hello,
While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a way that does not comply with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as http://www.youtubedownloads.info/.
As stated in our programme policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on sites with content related to hacking or cracking. For example, sites
showing ads may not provide instructions or equipment allowing to illegally access or tamper with software, servers or websites.
As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site.

There goes that nice little earner of mine, I guess I will just have to ad some azoogle and try to profit from that.
