$66.8 Million a Year. Mozilla Is the Biggest Google Whore.

According to Mozilla’s new audited financial records, the company has had a revenue stream of $66.8 Million this year which is a nice 26% percent increase from last years $50 something million.

According to the CEO of Mozilla:

“As in 2005 the vast majority of this revenue is associated with the search functionality in Mozilla Firefox, and the majority of that is from Google.

A whopping 85% of the revenue is from Google with the rest coming from donations and sales of things like t-shirts and other boring stuff. This has also been mentioned as a risk considering the fact that their contract is up for renewal in November 2008.

My guess is that Google will try to take over the project instead of to keep paying them these silly amounts of money every year. They bought feedburner for the tune of $100 Million, they bought Youtube for $1.6 Billion, they are in a bidding war to gain shares of facebook, and they are buying God Knows what else. Google is getting too POWERFUL!

Some people think that shoemoney, johnchow, and problogger are Google Whores, but the fact of the matter is that 2 of those 3 bloggers have preffered to completely take Google out of the equation with regards to adsense. So I am officially making the Mozilla Foundation the Head Concubine of the Kingdom of Google. I think I am going to start advertising Firefox, and get me some commissions.
