How To Cheat Alexa. And Increase your Alexa Rankings
- 16 Comment
If you want to make money the easy way subscribe to my RSS feed, and learn how to make money from your feedreader.
Just a quick follow up to yesterdays post where we discussed how Alexa was actually worthless. Im going to follow that up with teaching you all how to beat the system. Most people already know this, but this is just for the readers that don’t know about it.

Now this is not something I suggest because I find that people that manipulate the system to try to falsely increase their rankings are just boring. That is why you will never see me on a technorati link train, or being a part of any link trains for that matter.
Now the trick with Alexa and internet explorer was to just install the toolbar, and make your site your homepage and just refresh as much as possible. This was a problem for all the tech savy people like you and me using FireFox because there was no toolbar for friefox.
That has all changed now, they have decided to kiss and makeup and be friends now.
To download the alexa toolbar for FireFox click here.
Now if you really want to cheat the system and try to increase your Alexa rankings alls you have to do is download this plugin, and set the refresh rate to 2-5 seconds. Again this is cheating so I don’t condone it in anyway.
Once your Alexa rating is high enough you can start instant messaging all your friends and bragging about your HUGE alexa ranking.

I posted the link to the firefox-Alexa toolbar on my blog not too long ago. I said that simply telling the readers of your blog about this update would boost your ratings. I didn’t think of the refresh idea…

Don’t forget about the SearchStatus plugin for FireFox: http://searchmarketingsense.com/alexa-and-firefox/
It not only does Alexa, but Compete.com as well, which I think has been very underrated and simply overlooked by many.

I love this post and all other similar ones.
It is like teaching a criminal how to use a gun, but telling him not to use it.
By the way Mubin, thank you for the post. I was looking for a firefox alexa plugin for a while, and now I found one.

I heard that Alexa counts your IP only once per day though?

I can’t see how this could possibly be overlooked by Alexa. Especially since they are considered to be an authority on a sites popularity.

when i started to increase my alexa rank i used the redirect from alexa to my website, and installed the alexa toolbar and would flick through the my pages a few times so alexa know that the pages are there and my alexa increased but that was about 3 months ago and i left it since then and it shot back up again

Does anyone really care what Alexa Ranking a website has these days?
The information provided by Alexa is useless, even from an advertiser or website buyers view. Nobody relies on it anymore. So who cares about having a high rank?
And does anybody even use Alexa’s directory for search?

Nice post, I am trying to get my Alexa rank up now, but I am using Vista, and their website says that they aren’t set up for that yet. So, too bad for me. Unfortunately, I am using an advertising system that still looks at Alexa stats. So, I guess I screwed until they fix it
