How to Make Money Online With a FREE Image Host

First a warning, this will be a really long post but should show everyone how to make a profitable online image host.
Introduction:
The reason I decided to take on the task of trying to make money with a image hosting site, is because it was one of my ideas when I first started my proxies. I figured that my proxies should have complimentary sites with them as well. What do people that use proxies usually use them for? Most of the kids from school that log in to Myspace use proxies so that they get around filters on the network. Now what do most people that go onto myspace do? They post images and messages on their friends accounts. Now, since you cant actually upload images directly to myspace you have to use a online image host so that you can hotlink a image directly.
When my proxies started I didn’t have any time to invest in a image host. But since summer has started and the proxy business has slowed down I decided it was time to branch out.
Domain Name:
Once I had an idea of what I wanted I decided it was time to move onto deciding what the domain name was going to be. I could have chosen anything with image, host, upload, things that would be good for SEO purposes. But luckily I was given a tip by someone that the piratebay had recently started a image host of their own. Since they are such a huge site with such a huge audience the site was actually getting thousands of hits without ever being announced!
The name that they had decided to use was http://www.bayimg.com. So what do I do? The first thing I tried to do was find every extension available, after not finding any obviously. I decided to try to get a domain name that was close enough to the original to actually get some type in traffic.
What did I go with in the End?
Just an extra “a” in there, but it does work. Think about all the people that go to http://www.gamil.com instead of http://www.gmail.com. It happens to me at least once a week.
So far the traffic shows that I did great with my decision to use this domain name.
Script Installation:
Now since Im not too savvy with PHP or anything like that I decided that I would hire someone to install the script and insert my adsense code for me. The price of this was a whopping $3. $3 Gave me a fully installed site. So for the cost of a domain ($9), and a script installation service ($3), I had a turnkey image host. People would try to sell you a turnkey site with zero traffic for upwards of $50. So for the cost of a large pizza I now had a full site that was making money online.
Traffic:
Getting traffic to a online image host is probably one of the easiest things I have ever seen. Okay it wasn’t as easy as getting traffic to my proxies. BUT it was pretty damn easy. Here are the methods that I used:
- Digg
- Forums
- Your Blog
- Myspace
First thing you need to do is get some funny/interesting pictures. Once you have those you have to upload them all to your image host. Than 3 times a day post an article on digg with a link to the image. If you are lucky enough to get dugg to the frontpage you are looking at over 10k hits to just that image. But thats not it, diggers have websites and they use forums. So the pictures would go viral and you would see a crazy amount of traffic.
Next you can take these same pictures and post these on forums. People love to see funny pictures in their “General Chat” or “Anything Goes” section. You just have to post a thumbnail and people will start clicking the images and coming to your site.
Use your blog! For the past few day I have been posting images every once in awhile on my blog. Now I get some good traffic here so that every image gets clicked on as well.
Myspace! Use myspace and post images to your friends accounts or to other peoples accounts you will see traffic coming in slowly and steadily as well.
Here are some screenshot of the traffic for all of you to take a look at, should interest some of you:
In this image you can see that the number of unique visitors for the month of August was 21,512, and the number of page views were 96,280.
This screenshot shows the first few days of traffic. 1700 uniques the first day, 3700 the second day. And lets look at the next few days…
Amazing…
Lets take a look at where all the users are coming from geographically.
Amazing thing is the traffic is mainly from the United States, Europe, Australia, Great Britian, and Canada. This is the best traffic that you can get because these are the most converting countries.
No! You can’t see the referrals…
Monetization:
At first I did what everyone else would do. I used GooGle adsense. But I was seeing that I was getting alot of pageviews but none of them were converting. At most I was making $1 a day. It was not great considering that I was getting over 14,000 Page Views a day. That was a ridiculous amount to be paid for that type of traffic.
So what do I do? I tried to sign up to any and all CPM advertisers that I could find, but they seem to be very selective about the age of a site that they will let into their program.
I did something that I really did not want to do, and that was go down the pop-up route. I used paypop. They are great, and I have started earning upwards of $6 a day from this one site, that I started as just a expirment.
Lets take a look at some of the money screenshots:

Upwards of $6 a day from a brand new site? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Rinse and Repeat:
The site will now be sold on to someone that can take it and run, I have laid the foundation for them. Now alls that they have to do is continue the process and they can start making money too!

Of course you are going to get huge amounts of traffic from Myspace you moron. By simply placing an image in a bunch of profiles is going to generate hits.
Don’t be misled by this idiots take on traffic. Anyone who uses myspace knows that when you visit a friends profile, that generates a “hit” for the image view. That doens’t mean SQUAT becuase the hit came from the Myspace profile page and NOT your website dumbasses!

I added SE friendly urls, titles, descriptions, keywords, changed the color schema and so forth. The site is already in Google index and I am positive that it will start making money soon
