How to Make Money with Proxies: Part I
So what does someone who has no creativity do to make money on the internet? You could make another social networking site like Myspace, or you could try to make another million dollar pixel site like. Or you could try something that is almost guaranteed to make you money fast and quick: Proxies.
How much knowledge do you need to run a proxy? Depends on how you want to run it and how hands on you want to be. I am pretty sure an 8 year old could run a proxy because I was able to run 20 with no problems. Keep in mind that I didn’t do much anything with proxified pages advertising wise.
CGI or PHP
There are two main types of proxy scripts. The first is the CGI based script aptly called Cgi Proxy, and the next is the PHP based script which goes by the name PHPproxy. It seems both programmers are not very innovative when it comes to naming their scripts.
Both of these scripts are free, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. I am not sure of everything that happens on the server side or how each scripts secures your anonymity but I know the following.
CGI kills your server’s processor (RAM), but doesn’t use that much bandwidth, and it lets you sign into myspace, and other sites that require you to sign in.
PHP on the other hand doesn’t put much burden on your processor. The downside of PHP is that you can’t have people sign into Myspace unless they have a custom script made for them, another downside of PHP is that you wont be able to sign into myspace, or gmail. While the downsides of PHP may seem like alot you have to remember that it is easier on your CPU, and wont lead your server to crash.
My choice when making my first Proxy was: CGI.
The reason behind this decision was that I wanted my site to be used my mostly kids that wanted to sign into Myspace or Gmail from school. I didn’t want the Chinese to be reading up on massacres or learning about something crazy like Democracy and Capitalism, stuff that could in the end get them in some trouble.
The other reason behind this slick decision was because there is a site out there that will automatically install the CGI script for you without you having to do anything. How nice is that, thus my 8 year old kid theory. Automatic Installer
Domain Name: To Proxy or Not To Proxy?
When you make a proxy, one of the decisions you have to make is whether or not you want the word proxy in the domain. Why wouldn’t you want the word proxy in the domain name if that is what it is? The answer is because you don’t want a school’s or anybody filtering software to automatically block your site because it has the word proxy in it. Some l33t administrator at the school or workplace might have put an automatic flag on sites with the word proxy in the domain.
Now that we have figured out why you don’t want the word proxy in your domain you need to realize that there are benefits for and against.
The reason you would want it in the domain is because it’s easier for the damn teenagers to remember and it also helps in SERP’s. For my first proxy I was ranked #4 on Google for the term ‘Myspace Unblocker’. (Unblocker isn’t even a word according to my spell checker!)
The reason you don’t want the word proxy in your domain has already been discussed dammit!
My Choice of first domain: Proxycastle.com (Now Sold)
I think that will be enough for now, in the next post we will look into hosting, advertising, and than in the last post we will look into monetizing. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to leave a comment.

Why is it better to have 20 proxies over one? It has to be easier to get one proxy to rank well in the SEs than 20.

That’s a good article. I discovered you through an opp on Payperpost.
Interesting articles on Proxies. I’m going to install one for my own use. I didn’t know such software existed!
I doubt though I can make any money on it, as I use a shared host. Don’t want to kill others traffic!
Best Wishes

I discovered you cannot use adlogger (or at least i couldn’t) on a proxy. Do you have any prevention from being click bombed by say any competitors? as i know this is concern from some people using adsense. Also, your “How to make money with proxies I II III IV” make an interesting read

You have to have the server up and running, and have your cpanel installed.
You can also do it via http://ftp.
