Having a large amount of feed subscribers is a thing of pride for every blogger on the internet. I know some of you may think that you don’t want a large part of your readers reading from their feed readers because it is much harder to monetize a feed than it is monetize your already running blog. But it it something that you will have to come to terms with sooner or later. Some people just prefer to read with the feed reader. You can sit and pout or you can do something to proactively increase the number of subscribers to your feed.

I know I know. Your all thinking what the hell is this guy on? He only has 150 feed subscribers and he’s going to tell us how to increase our feed subscribers? The answer is yes. While have only been blogging for a few months, I believe I have built up subscribers to respectable level in a very short timespan.

Catchy Titles:
I have been experimenting the past few days with using interesting/intriguing post titles. If you check out these post you can see they are not like my normal post title. If the title is interesting like this:, It will peak their interest and they will click on the article to read it. Doing this, I have seen my feed subscriptions increase by 5 everyday.(I wonder if one day I will look back at this post and laugh?)

New content:
There used to be a time(last month), when this blog was only updated once a week. And sometimes even less frequently. Back then subscriptions to my feed were at 15-20. And on days when new article were posted 40-50. I have decided to update more often and the effects have been positive. As you can see readership is increasing day by day. I may try an experiment and update twice a day and see how that goes. I figure with two posts your chances of picking up a new subscriber and an old subscriber opening the post have doubles.

Deceitfulness:
That’s right there is a way to cheat. Now don’t go crazy with this, and don’t tell anyone I told you how to do this. But, you know how when you leave a comments on someones blog there is a place for you to enter your name,e-mail, and url? Now think in the place of your real url you put to straight to your feed subscription button? Now lets take a estimate of 1 out of 5 people actually ignoring the fact that you tricked them. That’s an easy subscriber that you might have never gotten before. Don’t take this trick and start spamming peoples comments though, its better to leave 1 insightful and well thought out comment than 15 “lol’s” or “I agree” the people will click your link if you have something useful to say. If your one of those people spam comments to get into the top commentators list, know this we are still secretly making fun of you.

Visibility:

Offer a Full Feed:
Let your readers know that you are offering a full feed with no advertisements and entice them to sign up for it. You can also run a competition to increase the number of feed subscribers as well.
