Is anyone still using Twitter?

I have just added a button to the bottom of all new posts for twitter, but I am not sure if it is even still worth it.

I know about a month ago, I was pimping my twitter profile like there was no tommorow. I used to be checking in on the thing during breakfest, in bed, and on the toilet. Now it has just gotten to the point where I check it occasioanly to see what is going on, but I am no longer addicted to the damn thing.

I could see why people did want everyone and there mother to join, but now that the “new car smell” has left Im sitting there wondering what the hell is going on and left with the truly annoying question: Do we really need another means of connection on the internet?

Starting with the most basic to the most advanced we already have:

1. E-mail
2. Forums
3. Newsgroups
4. Blogs (Some people would consider this a communcation tool)
5. Social Media
6. Instant Messaging
7. Skype
8. Video Communcations

The only thing left is to get on the damn Virtual Reality headsets from Time Cop, and have a nice virtual conversation with someone in the same damn room.

Am I suggesting that twitter will fail? Probably not. Do I think that they will be able to carve a niche in a marketplace that is alreay too saturated? They already have.

The real question is: Is there a need for it?
