Is John Chow out Of Ideas?
If you want to make money the easy way subscribe to my RSS feed, and learn how to make money from your feedreader.
I hate to say it, but I think it has finally happened the thing that we all feared has come true. JohnChow, has officialy run out of ideas for his blog. It was bound to happen. I mean take a look at where he set himself upto. He was writing 3-4 posts a day about making money online.
All well and good, but sooner or later that is going to dry up and it has…
I will be the first to admit that I am an avid reader of John’s and he is one of the main reasons that I started my personal blog in the first place, but now whenever I open his blog I get disappointed. Lets take the last few days for example. Here are the posts on his main homepage right now:
- The Winner of The World’s Thinnest Mouse (Competition Update)
- Google Runs Out of Money, Writes a Bad Check
- And You Thought Lambo Doors Were Fancy (Exotic Cars)
- The John Chow Effect
- Want Traffic? Think Negative. (Gues Post)
- RSS Feed Footer WordPress Plugin
- How I Look If I Was Made of Food
- Dissecting John Chow dot Com (About a Article that Kuminko wrote)
- Kontera Wordpress Plugin (I’ll let him have this one)
- Five Things I Learned from John Chow That Made me a Successful Blogger (Guest Posted)
Now that is the front page of John Chow. It used to be that you could go to John Chow and read the front page and be amazed at what you saw, and I still go there and am amazed at the medioracry of what I see.
Another great blogger is Shoemoney. The reason is he diversifies, he doesn’t just tell us how to make money from his blog, but he also shows how he makes money from his other sites, and from his other programs like auction ads. He tells us about the things that he has to go through to be successful like hiring the right people, or making the right choice.
I am still a fan of John Chow, and regularly check the site at least 3-4 times a day, it’s just that things aren’t as great as they used to be.
What is your opinion? Do you have a favorite blogger that has gone downhill? Lemme know. And I swear if you say me…

Er….shoemoney and JC are both idiots.
Spend some time reading bluehatseo.com (an amazing blog, run by an amazing guy), digeratimarketing.co.uk, and earnersblog.com. They post nothing but raw techniques and tips. If you haven’t read BlueHatSEO before, you are MISSING OUT.

I quit reading his stuff a long time ago. Seemed not really be about making money, as much as what restaurants he goes to and other random topics.

I have to agree! Actually I have had this thought for some time now. The blog is mostly about how John is making more money rather than giving lessons. Surely there is a lot of good information. But there was this one time he had way to many “reviewMe” posts. Too often there is an update on his success in Agloco, and so on. Over and over again, we are told by everyone that a blogger should stick to one topic! This way you will get a loyal group of visitors. Right as well. But I can be very difficult to write 3 to 4 posts every day about one topic. I think it is a good idea to diversify a bit. However, the problem here is that when trying to diversify from “moneymaking”, an evident topic is SEO, blogging tips, etc. And there is thousands of blogs writing about this, already. No wonder we often read the same stuff over and over again. (Specially “Stick to one topic” - and better yet, let’s all stick to the same one) I am sure it is possible to get a lot of visitors, even though you write about several different topics, which has nothing in common.

Kontera Wordpress Plugin (I’ll let him have this one)
Oh, would you still “let him have this one” if you knew he wrote about the really old plugin that does nothing more than add the javascript to your footer, and then (at least in the early versions) sneaks invisible links into your footer– putting you at risk of a google penalty?Wouldn’t you have been a bit more impressed if he’d told you about the new plugin that ads the javascript to the footer, if you wish, lets you keep the ads out of sponsored posts (like Review me), and lets you keep ads of new posts (if you wish).
I know he didn’t write about the new plugin because I haven’t gotten any referrers from john. But if you want to check it out, visit

I was wondering the same thing myself. It seems his archives are great but his latest commentary isn’t so hot. Seems he rehashes a lot of peoples original content.
