Making Money Online With Text Link Ads Part 3

In Part 1 we discussed in general how to make money from MFTLA (Made For Text Link Ads) sites. In Part 2 we looked at choosing a niche, domains, and hosting. If you have a tough time keeping up, you may subscribe to my free rss feed so that you can stay updated on when the blog gets updated!

Some blogs suck and write long introductions. We don’t do no sucking around here, and will jump straight into the mix of things.

Sites:

Now you have to decide how you want to offer your site to the public. If you are good at html and can work with it easily there is nothing better than a site. But may I suggest something super duper cool? It’s called wordpress, and probably the best thing that happened on the internet since firefox. Why is wordpress better than a static html page? Calm down I’ll tell you.

First and foremost is the ease of use. You just sign in and update your content and that’s it! With the push of a button your page is updated. Maybe thats why they call it push button publishing? Even if you are no good at html or making web sites wordpress can easily be installed with fantastico and after that even a monkey can use it.

Another reason to use wordpress is because it gets indexed faster. For some reason Google loves the blogs. It’s probably because they are updated often and unique, but its a proven fact that blogs get indexed faster than regular web pages.

One of the best reasons is the fact that you can later also sell links in the actual blog posts. It’s called post level text link ads. If you have 10 posts on your blog and your Page Rank passes on to all of them, you should have another 10 PR3-4 pages that you can sell text links on.

Content:

Now here comes the part where you might actually break a sweat. WORK! You have to write some unique content. At LEAST 10 articles on each site. That makes a total of 100 articles.

You should update with a break of about 2-4 days between each post. So write about 10 articles every 3 days and your set. This is why I said to pick a niche in which you have some interest so you can easily write articles for it. DO NOT use an articles spinner or try to copy work from the internet. This will give you duplicate and/or worthless content that no advertiser would be willing to advertise on it.

If you absolutely can not write your own content. pay someone to do it. There are lots and lots of freelance writers on the internet you should have no trouble finding them

Buying Links:

If you didn’t like the last part, your going to hate this part. This is the part that will actually cost some money! Your gonna have to buy text links now so that you can get some Page Rank. You have to look for a site with at least a Page Rank of 6. Go to your favorite webmaster forum and let them know that you need links in the Link Sales section. You will have so many offers thrown at you it’s not even funny.

Try to buy permanent or yearly links. You don’t want to have to buy monthly links for 10 sites at a time, that will be a real pain. If you buy permanent links with a bulk order you should be getting discounts on the purchases so buy in BULK.

Waiting for Page Rank:

Relax, wait, Go to the Bathroom till the next update happens.

Selling Links and Making MONEY:

Now it’s the time that all your hard work has paid off. You can now cash in on your investment and the Return on Investment is going to be high! First you have to sell links through text links ads, you have 10 sites. On these 10 sites you can sell 10 links each. Lets say each link gets you a minimum of $25. Thats $2,500.00 a month, and thats with TLA taking out their cut. Now remember when you bought those links from your favorite webmaster forum? Did you know you could also sell links there? Lets say you don’t sell all 100 there but are only able to sell 50 for $25. That’s another $1,250.00 a month.

There you go, you have no successfully set up a recurring income of $3,750.00 a month.

Have fun, and if you liked this article link back to it and let your readers know about it!

I noticed that all of the links in your blog posts open in a new window. I think it would probably be better if links pointing to another page on your blog be loaded in the same window. And links pointing to an outside website be loaded in the new window. Its just after clicking around a bit i noticed i had 5 windows open all of a sudden.

What page rank should I wait for on my new domains before I can start selling text links ads on them? I mean… I could be in the bathroom a long time! But seriously that seems to be the hardest part is getting the PR; once you get that established the sales are easy.

Question is still valid though. What PR target should I be looking for?

In case anyone is looking for content….I am one for hire! hehe…this is nice stuff, slow but rewarding process. I have a suggestion, one can actually write 20 and later add the blog to payperpost, loudlaunch and sponsoredreviews….that way you get MORE money out of that blog…..

Well you laid out the scenario pretty thoroughly. Gave lots of good tips for newbies as well. I will just mention one drawback. You have to be accepted to textlink ads first! But as a previous commenter mentioned. You never know until you try.

Inventory. You will never sell 10 links @ $25, especially for PR4. It’s simply not going to happen. I have PR7 and PR6 sites with unsold inventory.

How much are you selling links for on those sites Brian?

They vary but aren’t anything too abnormal - I simply let text link ads set the price.

All of this sounds good.. but have you DONE it? I’d be much more interested if you told us you’d done this, how the PR from TLA rose (it’s not going to go from 0 to 6 in one update), what you spend on TLA ads to get PR, what your PR was when you started selling text link ads, what price you got and what % of inventory you sell… etc, etc.

Right now it all sounds good, but it’s easy to spin out scenarios that sound rosy. Let’s see that TLA check ala Shoemoney’s photo!

It’s not too uncommon for Text Link ads to run a special which reduces the price of your ads. I have 5 slots on a PR7 that generate a bit over $200 per month. When I talked with Text Link Ads about it, they thought it a fair price overall.

Brian you definatly need to do some private link sales man. They are charing I believe $80 for it,and only giving you $40.

Rick: I think thats a challenge if I ever heard one. I believe I will take it up ;) I’ll keep everyone updated.

Private Link Sales? I really don’t have time. A couple of times I posted at various forums and $80 for a PR7 link seemed too rich for many people.

Please note - Across my network of sites, I make about $1090 a month in link sales. It can be done - it simply isn’t as easy as these posts make it out to be.

    Brian,

    how many sites?

    Mubin,

it is, kinda. After 17 years in software product development and marketing I know how easy it is to outline a reasonable business case and how often reality diverges from one.

For example.. you say you’ll have to buy links for a bit to get PR… OK, for how long? What’s the monthly cost? If it takes 3 months to get to, say, PR5 before I can sell link ads for $25 per, and I spend $250 a month that’s $2500 for 10 sites. $7500 in total. OK, not bad if I have high confidence I can make $3000per month… but what if I make $1000? Or what if it takes 6 months at that burn rate? That would mean going $15k into it before you start seeing returns.

The case is easy to outline - build a network of sites, get each site to good PR and link them together to help, sell adds on each site. No one site has to make a lot of money for the gross revenue to be meaningful. But you need to account for initial investment, actual prices that TLA will pay you, real inventory issues, how long it takes to build PR, etc.

Just get down to DP. you always see mubin selling his stuff there :D. I have a PR5 site, trying to get some TLA ads on it, but had no bids for the space yet. Seems they go for traffic aswell as PR.

like rick says, its risky. You could always do it the cheap way, the way mubin forgot to mention. Go to forums.digitalpoint.com, go to buy sell and trade, then to domains. You see people selling PR5 domains for $50-$100. So you neednt spend $250 linkbuilding. Or you could use my plan - buy a PR7 link for $300/year. It should give you pr5 easily. Then spend $40 on directory submissions. That may help you gain a PR6. If you’re scared about text link ads not working, dump a PHPlinkBid script on it, and auction off your links. Check out http://www.bigweblinks.com - they’re raking the cash in. $1000 buys you the rank 1 spot on their PR7 homepage :)

After you pay $0.65 for 1 (normal price) email the email address listed on the “thank you” page with your anchor and url of the additional sites you would like added. Don’t forget to reference Mubin’s blog.

    This is good stuff, Mubin.

Do you have your pic posted anywhere on your blog?

    Where are you located?

    Just curious…

Yeah, I was just reading up on WordPress 2 in a book in Barnes & Noble because I’m just about ready to set up my new dot com there.

You’ve given me plenty to think about.

I know Blogger now, but I’m learning about WP. Can I sell links to my PR5 ranked Blogpost blog somewhere?

    Again, just wondering…

And that Made for Text Link sites info has my mind reeling. That’ll be good when I set up my WP sites.

I just had a glass of red wine so maybe that’s why it’s reeling…

But I plan to blog anew about the niche that interests me. I believe the money will flow…

Um…but anyway, what was I going to say? Um…

I don’t know. No wonder you’re doing well.

    Catch you later,
    Paula
