PageRank Update and You. What to Expect

As most of you should know by now the Google Pagerank update is in effect, if your site has not had its PageRank changed yet there is nothing to worry about.  For the past few updates it seems that it has taken GooGle alot longer to roll out the actual PageRank to the toolbar than it all happening in one go, like it used to.

The PR update started about 10 days ago, and many sites still have not changed.  Out of my 150 sites none of them have seen a change in PageRank as of yet.

Why is the PR Update so important?  Well if your just a regular internet surfer, chances are you really don’t care or even know what Page Rank is.  But if your a webmaser/mistress/blogger/directory owner chances are PageRank is very very important to you.

Pagerank is used by many programs such as Text Link Ads to decide how much a link on your blog is worth.  Since this blog is only a PR2 at the moment it is not even algible to get into the Text Link Ads program, but if calculations by the little monkeys behind the computer screen are correct the blog should be getting a PageRank 6 on this update.  What that means for this blog is that a link will be worth more than $40 when the blog gets into the program.

Now, it has been speculated that a higher PR will get you a higher ranking the SERPS (Search Engine Results Page), now whether or not this is true has never actually been proven, but I like to think that it is true. 

Alot of other things happen with a PageRank update as well, GooGle recalculates the number of backlinks pointing to your site, so if you have alot of backlinks pointing to your site with the term “Amy Winehouse”, but are noticing you are getting no GooGle love it is probably becase the SERPS are all in a mess at the moment.

Want proof of this?  Go search for the term “make money online”, and tell me where you see Problogger.net, he used to be in the top 10, but now unfortunetly his site has been pushed to page 2, this is most definatly just a temporary thing, and will correct itself once everything gets back in line.  But until than ALOT of people are moving up and down in the serp’s Yours truly included.
