Why You Shouldn’t Open An Arcade Site

If you want to make money the easy way subscribe to my RSS feed, and learn how to make money from your feedreader.

As you all know I am in the process of trying to make 5k a month. The main source of this income was going to come from my proxies and some secondary sites. Mainly the idea was to get some directories going.

I have decided to stay away from directories for the time being because they require alot of work and money, and while I may be stupid with money I am the laziest person you have ever not met. I don’t like to work. I’d outsource brushing my teeth if it was possible.

I thought that an arcade site would be a nice addition to my proxies and I could advertise it from the proxies with some ease. As I stated the arcade I bought was Arcade-Shit. I got this for cheap on DP it was a auction and the high bidder backed out, and thus the auction was extended for 2 hours and I wont it for $35. I paid an extra $15 to the seller to upload it for me because I have absolutely no idea how scripts work.

Here is a screenshot of what I think is a reasonable amount of traffic:

Now that’s what I would consider a reasonable amount of traffic.

Here is the adsense screenshot:

As you can see I am not very happy with the end results so far. My Apologies for not being able to resize the image properly and stuff, I just got MsPaint this evening thanks to a member of DP that was kind enough to zip it up and send it my way.

I am still happy with my investment in the arcade. I did at the end of the day get a bargain:

  • $125 for the Scripts on the Site.
  • $10 for .com domain. (I run all my proxies off of .info’s)
  • $15 for the unique design, but c’mon a TURD?

If I had done all these things separatly I would have spent at least $150, I got it all for $50. A saving of $100 dollars. The site is being hosted with my proxies so Im not worried about bandwidth costs because hell the server is dedicated and Im paying for it anyway.

The site should hopefully pick-up soon (fingers crossed). If not im sure it will cover the cost of $50 by the end of the year either way.

At around $5 per month, it would appear to me that you got exactly what you paid for. At 10x valuation you paid the exact right price for it.

Now the trick is to add your personal skillset to the equation and make it grow so that 10x revenue is more than what you paid for it.

In short: the bright side is that you paid a fair price for something and you have a chance to make a profit.

Better than getting less than what you paid for :)

You’re not allowed to show the clicks so blocking that chunk out was smart :)

There are definitely lots of segments that won’t convert well. If people are looking for something free, it’s usually a bad sign for conversion.

Did you check the referrer stats to find the major traffic sources? it may be low quality, foreign or blind traffic. If so, maybe try to send it some better traffic and see what happens.

Either way, i agree that was a nice deal.

Just to clear something up, when I bought the site it was brand new. You can consider it a turnkey. I have driven all the traffic to it.

    Just to clear things up.

Another reason why you shouldn’t make an arcade is:

There are thousands on the net already and any new ones do not add any value whatsoever.
