Wordpress Secures $29.5 Million in Round B Funding

The company behind your favorite Blogging Platform: Automattic, has secured $29.5 Million In Round 2 funding from the venture partners.

Automattic is the company that not only produced Wordpress the blogging software, they also produce one of the most important tools that you will ever possibly use for wordpress which is Akismet, other products of theirs also include items such as Gravatar, and bbPress. Though I have never used the latter of the three I can tell you one thing. If it was not for askismet spam protection I would have stopped bloggin a LONG LONG TIME AGO.

I have not always thought on the same wave length as them. Like the time they put a bitch slap on Sponsored Links in wordpress themes, but the fact that they offer this great service for free gives them the right to be as pious as they please. And the fact that its free also gives me the right to whine as much as I possibly can.

The New York Times has also come into the fold now investing money in what they think will be a very profitable company. Old World Media is finally catching up to what the internet is about and understanding that this is the medium that people want to use now!

Maybe wordpress should just buy Yahoo now?
