When you come out and say that Youtube is bigger than Google you have officialy lost all

credibility with me. And it takes alot to lose all credibility with me, I mean I give credibility to babies with diapers on. If you check out this screenshot you can see how obviously Google has decreased in its ranking and obviously Youtube has taken over to be #1. The people over at Alexa really need to wake up and start doing some manual checks, especially when it comes to something as big as your #1 site, I mean even technorati manually mange to take care of their top 100 listings to make sure that no spam blogs are getting into the top 100 without the proper rankings, and Alexa can’t even watch their number 1 spot?
The way that Alexa measures traffic is by taking data from the Alexa toolbar of what websites people are visiting, now most of the people that have this toolbar installed are webmasters or people that are really tech savy, that is why a site like digitalpoint, or shoemoney have huge alexa rankings, it doesn’t EXACTLY mean that they are more popular, it just means that more people have visited your site with the toolbar.
What pisses me off even more is how companies like review me, and text link ads actually take this information so seriously that they base their prices on it (and other factors, but Im ranting). I shouldn’t really be complaining as there is not a whole lot of competition out there for them.

Alexa is completly worthless. I always hear about people who minipulate their rank by doing the simplest things like installing the toolbar and having the page auto-refresh all night. Alexa could easily improve their algorithm to filter for dumb stuff like that.

First of all: Alexa is not worthless. You just have to know how to use it. You can’t compare 2 websites which are not related one to each other.
Secondly: where did you find the Alexa graph image of Google vs Youtube? This graph is so wrong…Go and compare them in Alexa and you will see what I mean.

Ah sorry, I’ve seen that you compare “pageviews” to tell that Youtube has overtaken Google.com. Nothing against you, but you still have to learn a lot…

a lot about how the internet works. You are writing about things you really don’t know much about…and that’s why the information you spread is usually wrong.

Alexa is somewhat worth something. Their values can be a bit screwy at times, but since teens and early 20-somethings are on the internet more, I can believe that youtube has more rank than Google itself at times.
